Summary of Leave Benefits Available to Employees in Guangdong

In accordance with the relevant laws and regulations of the state and Guangdong Province, the leave benefits available to employees in Guangdong Province are summarized as follows:

  1. Statutory Holidays

    (1)
    one day off for New Year’s Day
    (2)
    four days off for Spring Festival (Chinese New Year)
    (3)
    one day off for Qingming Festival
    (4)
    two days off for Labour Day
    (5)
    one day off for Dragon Boat Festival
    (6)
    one day off for Mid-Autumn Festival
    (7)
    three days off for National Day

  2. Paid Annual Leave

    (1)
    Employees who have worked continuously for more than one year are entitled to paid annual leave.
    (2)
    Employees who have worked for more than 1 year but less than 10 years are entitled to 5 days of annual leave. For those who have worked for more than 10 years but less than 20 years, they are entitled to 10 days of annual leave. For those who have worked for 20 years, they are entitled to 15 days of annual leave.
    (3)
    National statutory holidays and the rest days are not included in the annual leave.

  3. Marriage Leave

    Employees are entitled to 3 days of marriage leave upon their own marriage.

  4. Funeral Leave

    Employees are entitled to 3 days of funeral leave when one of their immediate family members (parents, spouses, children) passes away.

  5. Maternity Leave

    (1)
    Female employees are entitled to 98 days of basic maternity leave for normal childbirth.
    (2)
    An additional 30 days of maternity leave will be granted to those under dystocia.
    (3)
    In the case of a multiple birth, an additional 15 days of maternity leave shall be granted for each additional infant.
    (4)
    The local extra maternity leave granted to female employees in Guangdong Province is 80 days.

  6. Paternity Leave

    Male employees who give birth to children in accordance with laws and regulations are entitled to 15 days of paternity leave.

  7. Parental Leave

    Parents (employees) are respectively entitled to 10 days of parental leave each year until their child reaches 3 years of age.

  8. Elderly Care Leave

    Employees are entitled to 5 days of elderly care leave each year if one of their Guangdong parents is over 60 and they are the only child of the family during the one-child policy period. If the parents are hospitalized for illness treatment, the employee is entitled to cumulative elderly care leave of no more than 15 days each year.
