Q: What is an EP?
A:
The EP is a work visa scheme designed for foreign professional, managers and executives to work in Singapore. A director or shareholder of the company can apply for an EP if they wish to relocate and start their operation in Singapore.

Q:
What is the eligibility for EP?
A:
The EP is for foreign professionals who:

  • Have a job offer in Singapore.
  • Work in managerial, executive or specialised job.
  • Earn a fixed monthly salary of at least SGD3,600 (older, more experienced applicants need higher salaries).
  • Have acceptable qualifications, usually a good university degree, professional qualifications or specialised skills.
  • Application for an Employment Pass is open to all nationalities.

Q:
How long does it take to process EP?
A:
For EP application filed online, it takes up to three (3) weeks for most cases. It may take longer when additional documents are required by the Ministry of Manpower of Singapore (“MOM”).

Q:
What is the duration of an EP?
A:
The duration of the EP is up to two (2) years for first-time applicant and up to three (3) years for renewal.

Q:
Does the company need to pay any levy for EP holder?
A:
There is no foreign worker levy for EP.

Q:
Can I apply for EP prior to incorporating my company in Singapore?
A:
No, it is not possible. You must first incorporate a company in Singapore before applying for the EP.
