What is High Court Apostille Service?
A:
High Court Apostille Service means qualified documents certified by the High Court. According to “Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents” of The Hague Convention, the document certified by the High Court of Hong Kong SAR can be used for legal purposes in all the other jurisdictions that have signed the Convention.

Q:
What documents can be subject to Apostille Service?
A:
Two kinds of documents are acceptable for Apostille:
1.
Public documents bearing the true signature of an official party such as a Hong Kong SAR Government recognized officer, for example:
(1) Marriage Certificate;
(2) Birth or Death Certificate;
(3) Certificate of Registered Particulars;
(4) Business Registration Certificate; and
(5) Certificate of Incorporation.

2.
Documents signed by a notary public or a Commissioner for Oaths in Hong Kong:
(1) By Notary Public, for example, Power of Attorney or business contract;
(2) By Commissioner for Oaths, for example, statutory declaration.

Q:
How long does it take for the Apostille Service?
A: Normally it takes two working days (excluding Saturdays) for the Apostille process.

A:
For applicants residing outside Hong Kong, they can engage the professional service providers in Hong Kong to submit and collect the apostilled document.
