Q:
What is business registration?
A:
Any person who conducts business in Hong Kong, whether by physical or online way, is required to comply with the requirements of the Business Registration Ordinance and register his business.

Q:
What businesses require business registration?
A:
All form of business for the purpose of gain requires business registration, such as trading, consulting, crafting, tutoring or coaching.

Q:
What forms of business can be registered in Hong Kong?
A:
There are a total of six types of business:
1. Individual;
2. Body Corporate;
3. Partnership;
4. Limited Partnership Fund;
5. Unincorporated Body of Persons; and
6. Branch Business.

If operating as individual(s), the person(s) shall apply for sole proprietorship or partnership (with more than one investor) registration.
If operating as a Body Corporate, they can register a Limited Company under the Hong Kong Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622)  

Q:
Requirements for application of business registration?
A: Sole proprietorship or partnership must apply for a business registration within one month from the date of operation.
For the incorporation of a Limited Company is deemed to have applied for business registration at the same time. Applicant is not required to submit a separate application for business registration. However, the Limited Company must be registered before starting business.

Q:
How do I change my business registration information?
A:
If the registration information changes, such as business address or nature, the operator shall notify the Inland Revenue Department in writing within 1 month.
