Q: Can I use the Hong Kong RO (“RO”) to do my business in Hong Kong?
A: No, Hong Kong RO cannot be engaged in business, conclude contracts, provide consultancy for a fee, undertake transshipment of goods, or open or negotiate any letters of credit. Normally, it is use for marketing research, development, liaison with supplies and customer or a show room.

Is the Hong Kong RO a separate legal entity?
A:
No, Hong Kong RO is not a separate legal entity.

Q:
How to apply for a RO?
A:
To set up a RO in Hong Kong, it requires to summit the application to Business Registration Office of Inland Revenue Department for obtaining a Business Registration Certificate.

Q:
What information and documents that need to provide for the application?
A:
The applicant shall provide:
1. Name, incorporation place and date of the body corporate;
2. Name, address and date of commenced in Hong Kong;
3. Copy of certificate of incorporation of the body corporate; and
4. Full name and designation of person who sign on the application form.

Q:
What is the fee for the RO registration?
A:
The government fee of RO Business Registration Certificate is HK$2,250 which subject to adjustment or waiver. Kaizen can provide the service package of RO registration package with annual address service.

When is the renewal date of RO?
A:
It can select Business Registration Certificate valid for 1-year or 3-year on the RO application form. The Business Registration Certificate of RO required to be renewed before the expiration. If the RO engaging address service from professional firm in Hong Kong, normally it needs to be renewed in every year.

How to renew the Business Registration Certificate of RO?
A:
The payment of Business Registration Certificate fee can be made via Internet or by person. You can also pay the fee together with the address fee to us if engaging our services.

Is there any penalty for failure to renew the Business Registration Certificate of Hong Kong RO?
A:
Other than the late penalty which is HK$300, the person fails to obtain a valid Business Registration Certificate shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable to a fine of $5,000 and to imprisonment for 1 year.
