What is Work Permit for confinement nanny?
A: The Work Permit allows you to hire a confinement nanny from Malaysia to help with your newborn.

Q:
Who is eligible to hire a confinement nanny?
A:
To hire a foreign confinement nanny, you need to:
1.
Be 21 years old and above at the time of application.
2. Get a Work Permit for your confinement nanny,
3. Pay a monthly levy.
4. Have a newborn under 4 months old.
5. A medical examination is optional. You may want to send your confinement nanny for a medical checkup because she will be in contact with your newborn.
6. You should buy a medical insurance of at least S$15,000 to cover your nanny during her employment with you.
Note: The maximum validity of the Work Permit is 16 weeks starting from your child’s date of birth. If you apply after your child is born, the validity will be shorter.

Q:
Who can be a confinement nanny?
A:
Your confinement nanny must:
1.
Be a Malaysian.
2. Be 23 to 70 years old at the time of the application.
3. Work at your residence
Note: You and your confinement nanny are bound by the basic Work Permit conditions. For example, the nanny cannot work for other employers in an occupation other than that stated in the Work Permit.

Q:
Does the employer need to pay any levy for confinement nanny?
A:
Yes, you will need to pay monthly levy fees for your confinement nanny. The amount is as follows:
1.
If the new born child is a Singapore citizen: S$60 per month.
2. If the new born child is non-Singapore citizen: S$300 per month.

Q:
When should the employer apply for the Work Permit and how long does it take to process ?
A:
You can apply from 4 weeks before the expected date of delivery, up to 16 weeks after the birth of the child.
The application takes up to one (1) week to be processed for most cases. It may take longer when additional documents are required by the MOM.
