Q: What are the ways to check individual credit report?
A:
1. Checking by visiting offline sites by providing valid ID.

from bank counter: branches of the People’s Bank of China provide counter checking.
from self-service inquiry machine: self-service inquiry machines are provided by the People’s Bank of China branches inquiry sites and some commercial banks.
 from bank automated teller machines (ATM): currently limited to ATMs in some pilot branches of Industrial and Commercial Bank, China Construction Bank and China Merchants Bank.
2. Checking online:

logging in to the "Internet Individual Credit Information Service Platform" on the homepage of the official website of the Credit Information Centre of the People's Bank of China (www.pbccrc.org.cn) for inquiries.
through online banking: Industrial and Commercial Bank, China Construction Bank, China Merchants Bank, China CITIC Bank, China Guangfa Bank, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank.
through mobile banking APP: Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Bank of Communications, China CITIC Bank, China Everbright Bank, China Merchants Bank, China Guangfa Bank, Ping’An Bank, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank.

Q:
What are the sources of individual credit report information?
A:
Basic information is mainly obtained from the "Loan/Credit Card Application Form" that individuals filled out at the lending institution.
Credit information is mainly obtained from lending institutions such as commercial banks, auto finance companies, consumer finance companies, and small loan companies.
Non-credit information is mainly obtained from government departments, courts, etc.

Q:
How long is the individual credit report kept?
A:
Negative information shall be displayed in individual’s credit report for 5 years from the date of termination of the bad behaviour or event.
Positive information shall be always displayed in individual’s credit report.

Q:
What is ‘negative information’?
A:
The following information has a negative impact on the credit status of the information subject: information that the information subject fails to perform its obligations in accordance with the contract in activities such as lending, buying on credit, guarantees, leasing, insurance, and using credit cards; information of administrative penalties on information subjects; information of information subject being judged or ruled to perform obligations and compulsory execution by the people’s court; other negative information as regulated by the credit investigation supervision and administration department of the State Council.

Q:
What to do if there is an error in the credit report?
A:
If an individual finds any errors in the credit report, he/she may bring his/her valid ID to the credit investigation service department of the branch of the People's Bank of China or the bank where the business occurred to file an objection application and apply for correction.
