IRAS Documentation Identification Number (DIN)

Answer
A Document Identification Number (or DIN) is a small but compulsory thing when filing your tax reports to IRAS — Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore.

Q:
What is Documentation Identification Number (DIN)?
A: DIN is a unique number code that is generated by IRAS to identify each Form C-S/ C issued. DIN is a set of letters and figures. (Example: SC 206 16264567890 023)

Q:
What is the purpose of DIN?
A:
To file a paper Form C-S/ C that is downloaded from IRAS website or via tax agent’s software, it is required to quote the DIN on Form C-S/ C.

Q:
Can I obtain the DIN to file Form C-S/ C for prior years?
A:
You can obtain the DIN for the current Year of Assessment and two previous Years of Assessment.

Q:
Can I obtain the DIN before the issuance of Form C-S/ C for the current Year of Assessment?
A:
No. DIN will only be available after the bulk issue of Form C-S/ C. Please retrieve DIN for the current Year of Assessment from Apr of the same year.

Q:
For a new company which has not been issued with Form C-S/ C, will I be able to obtain the DIN from IRAS’ website?
A:
No. To request for the DIN, please complete and submit the form “Request for Income Tax Return (Form C-S/ C) Filing Package and Notification of New Financial Year End”. You should be able to obtain the DIN from our website within 7 working days from the day we receive the signed form.

Q:
Under what circumstances I am not able to get a DIN?
A:
1.
A company has been granted a waiver to submit the income tax return will not get DIN.
2. Form C-S/C for a particular YA has already been filed.
